Support the Scene is back and ready to introduce you to some of the amazing local talent we have here, and to reacquaint you with some of your favourites. We have such an incredible music scene here in the GVA, and there are so many amazing artists just waiting for you to check them out. So, after an intensely hot and busy summer, some of our talented local artists found time to answer a few of our questions.
Check out what Plague Doctor had to say!
Q: For those who don’t know you, can you please introduce yourself and describe your sound?
We’re Plague Doctor. A Blackened Deathcore band From Mission, BC. We formed in 2018, from the ashes of other local bands; Slaughterhauser and Giants Arise. We consist of members Lyndsay J Noa - Vocals, Dan Miron - Guitar, Trevor Duplissie - Guitar, Tyler Rachue - Bass Guitar and Joey Dudas - Drums.
Q: What’s one of the biggest successes you’ve had as a musician?
Locally speaking, a few of us have had to play a few of the bigger festivals in our past bands. Such as Armstrong metal fest and Loud as hell. And we’re looking to hopefully get selected to one of those in this capacity next summer !
Q: What’s your favourite venue to play?
We really love playing Bullys Studio in New Westminster! Such an amazing locally run venue and Rob and Victoria who run it are truly amazing people who support the scene.
Q: What do you think was the best Medium for music to be on? (Vinyl, Tape, CD, Digital)?
Vinyl is definitely making a come back for sure. There’s just something about buying a brand new record these days. And more and more bands are starting to release more special edition albums.
Q: Who is your favourite local band to see perform around town?
There (are) so many amazing Vancouver bands, honestly! We all go to a lot of local shows and support the scene as much as we can. Some of our favourites include Archspire, Neck of the woods, Truent, Blackwater Burial and Thirteen Goats.
Q: What’s coming up next for your music?
We released our first EP “Get well soon” back in April. It’s currently available on all streaming platforms. So please check it out if you haven’t already.
We’re planning on releasing a couple more singles in the near future, as well as a music video for our track “no peace”.
Currently in the process of writing new music, and hopefully in 2025, have our first full length album ready to record!
